You’ve built a life that looks powerful on the outside: the career, the community, the recognition and awards, the creativity that people admire you for.

Yet on the inside? You feel a dissonance.

Not quite burnout. Not quite crisis. More like… a misalignment.

A sense of drift from your inner rhythm.

You’re productive, but not nourished.

Successful, but not lit up.

Creative, but disconnected from the source of your creativity.

The outside world still sees your brilliance, but inside, you feel like you’ve been carrying too much, for too long.

What used to come from aliveness now comes from obligation.

What used to come from conviction now comes from pressure.

What used to feel like excitement and purpose now feels… heavy.

You’re creating something that doesn’t yet have a model — expanding what’s possible for those who come after you. But going first feels lonely.

And beneath your success, your care for the world, your commitment to doing meaningful work, there’s a quiet fear you rarely say aloud:

“What if I can’t find my way back to myself?”

Or even:

“What if I’m too afraid to step into what I truly want?”

Here’s what I want you to know…

You’re not stuck. You’re leading your life from past versions of you, all carrying different burdens and beliefs about who you’re supposed to be.

The responsible one.
The overfunctioner.
The high achiever.
The peacemaker.
The strong one who holds it all together.
The good child to your parents.
The one everyone leans on.
The one who gets things “right.”

Your inner world has become a chorus of competing parts, each trying to protect you, drive you, save you.

No wonder you can’t hear yourself.

And here’s the real pain beneath it all:

You can feel the bigness of your purpose… but you can’t access the part of yourself capable of carrying it with ease.

Here’s what’s really going on…

You’ve been building your life on top internal structures that were never designed with your wholeness in mind.

Inherited paradigms.

Family roles.

Cultural expectations.

Capitalist rhythms.

A nervous system carrying generational imprints of pushing through.

Maybe those structures show up in your creative practice — the pressure to produce, to keep yourself in a neat box, to prove your worth through output and accolades.

Or maybe they show up in your life choices — the career that depletes you, the conversations you won’t let yourself have, the decisions that feel impossible because you’ve never learned to trust your own knowing.

That’s why your inner ecosystem is in conflict

You have a part that says yes while another screams no.

A part that wants to rest while another insists you keep pushing.

A part that knows your worth while another whispers you’re not enough.

A part that pushes you to be more visible while another part just wants to hide.

And because these parts have never been fully seen or introduced — because they’re bumping up against each other in the dark, convinced no one is on their side — you get caught up in internal static, unable to hear your own wisdom.

You’ve tried to get past it by ignoring or pushing away the inconvenient parts.

→ Overriding the anger

→ Ignoring the exhaustion

→ Pushing past the resistance

→ Pretending the fear or grief doesn’t exist

But suppression is just another form of self-abandonment… and at this point, your body knows it.

That’s the reason you feel depleted, like nothing is nourishing you, and the old strategies of hustling and striving no longer fulfil you.

The truth is, there’s nothing you need to ‘fix’ about yourself

This is about reunion: reclaiming all the parts you’ve been taught to abandon

Every part of you – the ambitious one, the tired one, the tender one, the fearful one – has been working overtime, thinking they’re alone.

None of them are wrong.

They just need leadership.

The kind of leadership that can only come from your deeper Self: the part of you that’s always been there, beneath all the noise.

When you return to your Self, your inner world reorganises

You don’t become someone new. You become the one who can hold your whole internal world with compassion and authority.

You learn to own your mastery and accomplishments while embracing your beginner’s heart — so you can create from curiosity, with a spirit of discovery, instead of being weighed down by your past achievements and credentials.

The exiled parts get to come home.

The parts that have been policing you realise they get to relax.

And your work – whether that’s the art you make, the career you’re building, or the life you’re architecting – starts feeling more like expression, and less like extraction.

It stops feeling like something you have to take from yourself and starts feeling like something that moves through you.

It feels liberatory for you to do, not just once it’s done.

If that sounds like the freedom and lightness you’ve been searching for, here’s how we begin…

Introducing

Big, Beautiful Work

Deep, relational, mind-body coaching to help you reunite with the exiled parts of yourself — so you can do your most important work from wholeness, not depletion

Big, Beautiful Work isn’t therapy, tactics, or traditional coaching.

It’s not about fixing what’s broken or optimising what’s already working.

This is a commitment to liberatory inner work — the kind that doesn’t just help you cope with the what you’re here to do, but transforms how you carry it.

This is the work that helps you stop abandoning parts of yourself in service of your vision and ambition… and start leading from the Self that can hold it all.

Here’s what becomes possible:

  • The freedom you’re building in the world starts to live in you — not just in what you create, but in how you move through your days.

  • Decision-making stops feeling like agony and starts feeling like listening — to your body, your values, your actual desires (not the ones you think you should have).

  • You can finally finish the creative project that’s been on the backburner for a year — and enjoy the process of creating it.

  • You can move at a pace you didn’t think was possible without letting any part of your life or yourself fall into disrepair.

  • Your inner critic softens into discernment. Your protectors relax. Your exiles come home.

  • You learn to let your own wisdom come to you — and that changes everything.

You don’t just feel better. You feel reunited with your whole Self.

“Lara’s work is radical and liberatory in ways that go beyond aesthetics and appearances”

— RACHEL LEE, SOMATIC PRACTITIONER

“Beyond just talk, she embodies living a life of going against the grain, of slowing down to treasure pleasure, of honouring our body’s vast spiral wisdom, while holding immense space for others to do so too because she understands the very high cost of not doing so.”

“Working with Lara has radically transformed my relationship with my creative practice”

— DIVYA VICTOR, WRITER & PROFESSOR, KINGSLEY TUFTS POETRY AWARD WINNER AND PEN OPEN BOOK AWARD WINNER

“I began coaching with Lara because I was looking for a listener who was not directly invested in my roles as a friend, employee, colleague, or spouse.

“I needed someone with expertise in listening to arts and writing practitioners, who would be able to hear the thought already nested within my thought, and amplify it so I could hear it myself.

“Lara was that expert listener.

“Working with Lara has radically transformed my own relationship with my creative practice. Our work together has unshackled my intellectual and creative ambition and redeemed it as a political purpose. It has also returned me to my agency as a full citizen of my own dream.

“Since coaching with Lara, I feel that my daily roles as a human and employee and arts practitioner are in greater balance and have more palpable, intentional integration. I feel more aware of the values that drive my actions, so I can prevent passive alienation and spiritual depletion even while pushing against structural failures.

“My favourite things about coaching with Lara have been the laughter and joy that come with self-awareness, and the release from habits of mind that impede generous thinking. And Lara’s sweaters!

“Working together has made me a better, less fearful, more generous human and has transformed how I parent and teach – beautiful extensions of my capacity as a writer.

“To anyone thinking about working with Lara, I would say:

“Do it. Allow yourself to take yourself seriously.”

I used to believe my worth came from what I could produce and prove.

And for a long time, I was really good at producing and proving.

Oxford degree, editorial job at Thames & Hudson, writer for TIME Magazine, Wall Street Journal arts editor, industry award for digital innovation, senior leader at a new Asian mega-museum, not to mention postgraduate degrees galore.

Born in Hong Kong to a Filipino mother and English father, I learned early how to navigate between worlds, switch languages and codes, translate complexity into clarity, and bring non-Western stories to powerful global audiences.

But here’s what most people don’t know:

That entire career was built after my body brought me to my knees at 25.

In case you’re relatively new to my world…

Hi, I’m Lara Day

Chronic fatigue syndrome didn’t just stop me — it was my first initiation.

At my lowest, I couldn’t walk or feed myself. I spent six weeks in a hospital bed. It was complete surrender.

Leading up to that point, I’d spent months white-knuckling my way through my illness, micro-managing my condition by following the official advice - rest, manage your energy, pace yourself — and still, things got worse.

What saved me was something unconventional: Reverse Therapy, a little-known modality that treated symptoms as messengers instead of enemies. It wasn’t respected in medical circles. There was very little research backing it. But it had helped a family friend’s cousin, so I tried it.

And it worked.

That early healing taught me something I’ve spent the last 20 years deepening:

Your body isn’t against you. It’s trying to reach you.

After recovery, I followed my curiosity and creativity into a career I loved.

In short: connecting Asia back to itself through art, culture, and storytelling.

I was living proof that you could heal and then thrive. That you could build something meaningful and do work that mattered.

But around 15 years later, when I moved to Australia, something shifted.

I finally had space to pause. So I started exploring. I dived in and studied the healing and wisdom modalities that had been calling me.

Yoga and qigong. Somatic experiencing. Deep transformational coaching. Hypnosis and change work. Family constellations.

Each one gave me new tools, new language, new ways of seeing and experiencing.

I practiced them with clients and in my own life. I got results. People called my work “masterful.”

But I could feel there was still something missing a deeper key I hadn’t found yet.

Then, in 2025, after surgery, old patterns started resurfacing with a vengeance.

I started coming up against issues I thought I’d resolved and parts of me I thought I’d integrated.

That’s when I discovered Somatic IFS Parts Work.

And everything — everything — suddenly made sense.

All those years of healing work? I’d been doing versions of this all along, but without the complete map.

Parts Work gave me the root system beneath all the branches.

Suddenly I could see:

→ Why some patterns kept recurring (unmet exiles)

→ Why certain behaviours felt impossible to change (protective systems doing their job)

→ Why my clients got such profound results (I was already facilitating these inner conversations, I just didn’t have language for it)

→ Why healing had to include the body, the psyche, AND the spirit (because parts live in all three)

This isn’t just another modality I’ve added to my toolkit.

This is the framework that integrates everything I’ve learned over 20 years — from that first healing with Reverse Therapy to the deep transformational work I share now.

It’s why I can hold space for the complexity my clients bring to our sessions.

It’s why we can go as deep as needed without it feeling heavy or overwhelming.

It’s why the work is relational, somatic, and spiritual all at once.

And it’s why I can see patterns so clearly not just in individual sessions, but across systems:

The artist who couldn’t create without guilt because pleasure had been colonised out of her lineage (protector carrying ancestral shame).

The leader burning out trying to prove belonging in spaces that were never designed for them (exile who never felt safe to just be).

The high-achiever carrying her grandmother’s survival strategies (parts who haven’t learned they can rest AND still matter).

This is what I bring to our work together:

→ 20 years of healing, learning, practicing, and refining

→ The ability to translate complex inner experiences into clear, actionable understanding (that skill I honed writing for TIME and WSJ? Still using it just for your inner world now)

→ The cultural fluency to hold space for complex, layered identities because I’ve navigated those in-between spaces myself

→ The somatic training to work with your body it’s the wisest guide in the room

→ The spiritual grounding from my roots in Asia where healing happens in relationship, not isolation

→ And now, the master framework that makes sense of it all: Somatic IFS Parts Work

I’m not here to fix you, because you’re not broken

I’m here to facilitate the conversation your parts have been waiting to have the one where they finally realise they don’t have to run the show alone.

I can meet you intellectually because I’ve lived in that world.

I can guide you somatically because my body taught me what my mind refused to learn.

And I can hold you spiritually because I’ve walked the path from exile to integration myself.

“...a space of support in my life that is additive, unique, and incredibly generative during a period of change”

— VERI DI SUVERO, FORMER NON-PROFIT DIRECTOR

“I started working with Lara because I was heading into a time of transition and wanted to get to know myself better, learn to feel and trust my ‘gut,’ and find more resources to recenter myself when heightened.

“Lara has helped encourage me through both professional changes and personal growth, providing a space for brainstorming, for reflection, and for reconnection.

“I now have the tools I need to change my perspective or presence in any situation.

“I recognise my own patterns and understand how to disrupt and change those patterns with care rather than shame.

“Lara has done an amazing job equipping me with those resources while also helping hold me accountable to be a bit more expansive in my approach – rather than trying to tackle something head on, instead taking a breath and spending some time feeling around the edges to understand the actual shape of whatever is coming up.

“There are so many things I love about working together! I’ve never worked with someone before whose values I trust so much.

“Lara’s practice asks me to take risks in trusting that she will lead us through a conversation or an issue, and I’ve found space for that trust in a way that I haven’t before.

“I really appreciate the celebrations at the beginning of each session, and the flexibility of Lara’s practice to find different breathwork and other exercises to go deeper in a session than would have known how to alone.

“I’m so glad I said yes to working with Lara, because I feel like I have a space of support in my life that is additive, unique, and incredibly generative during a period of change.”

This work is deep, but deep doesn’t mean heavy

Some of my favourite sessions involve laughter and play.

→ There’s the delighted surprise of discovering that the part you thought was your enemy has been trying to protect you all along.

→ The realisation that the anger you’ve been suppressing holds your power and integrity.

→ The moment when the exile under the floorboards finally has someone who will listen.

Play isn’t a distraction from the work, it’s how the work happens.

When we bring play into your internal world, something shifts: shame dissolves, defenses soften, parts open up without force, your creativity resurfaces, and the work becomes alive.

This isn’t performative play or forced positivity. It’s the kind of gentle, curious, life-giving, slightly mischievous energy that helps your nervous system exhale and realise it’s safe to explore.

This is how transformation becomes sustainable: we’re not forcing your inner world open, we're inviting it to convene.

And invitation, in my work, often sounds and feels a lot like play.

“I chose to coach with Lara specifically because in therapy, my attention is always focused on loss, absence, lack and pain. I wanted to turn my attention towards joy, pleasure, erotic knowing, and vibrant sensory attachment to the world”

— PRIVATE CLIENT

“Not only did Lara support me to shift and move through some really messy, liminal, frustrating, confusing shit...but we had a LOT of fun (and tears, and laughter, and feels) doing so”

— MIISH GRIXTI, ENTREPRENEUR

“Through coaching with Lara, I feel reconnected with my BIGNESS again.

“Working with her has liberated me from so much self-limitation — getting caught in my own head, playing small, kidding myself about what I really want. It’s the BIGGEST relief to feel like I’ve come back home to ME.

“It also feels EASIER to access my creative desire and my true self. I feel like I can move light years faster...not in hustle-y way, but from lightness and ease and liberation. I can create and launch the app. I can walk my talk from a place of “I *get* to,” not “I *have* to.” I can make good money without having to make it hard or heavy.

“Lara has this extraordinary ability to combine strategic pattern-recognition with moment-to-moment creative responsiveness, making the whole process feel both structured and effortless. Not only did she support me to shift and move through some really messy, liminal, frustrating, confusing shit...but we had a LOT of fun (and tears, and laughter, and feels) doing so.

“Working with Lara is like having a master strategist and artist in your corner, showing you how to paint your life in colors you didn’t even know existed.”

Here’s what it takes to come home to yourself (with depth AND play)

This work is not linear. It’s spiral-shaped, relational, and attuned to what your inner world is ready for, moment by moment. But you’ll notice you tend to move through four living layers:

1. Reconnection

We begin by listening to your body: gently, without expectation.

We follow sensations the way one might follow a soft thread through a forest: slowly, with curiosity, noticing how your system reveals itself when it feels unhurried.

This is where your nervous system starts to regulate, and your inner world realises: “Oh… it’s safe to be met this way.”

2. Meeting Your Parts With Lightness + Respect + Gentle Curiosity

Then, one by one, we invite the parts of you who’ve been overworking behind the scenes: the Strategist, the Protector, the Critic, the Good Daughter/Son, the inner nine-year-old, the tired one, the one who thinks they run your entire life (and maybe does)!

We meet them the way you’d meet characters in a novel: with interest, affection, and just enough humour to remind them they’re not alone.

Sometimes a part shows up grumpy. Sometimes theatrical. Sometimes shy. Sometimes ready to give a TED Talk.

All of it is welcome.

3. Integration

This is when your parts begin talking to one another, often for the first time in your life.

The overworked ones get a break. The younger ones get comfort. The prickly ones get understood. The visionary ones get space to speak.

Your system creates relationships internally. (Yes, actual relationships — this is where the real magic happens.)

This is where clients often say:

“I didn’t know my inner world could feel so… friendly.”

4. Liberation

This is where your Self — the wise, grounded centre of you — takes the wheel again, mediating between parts and restoring harmony to your whole inner system.

→ Clarity returns

→ Desire becomes audible

→ Your creative energy flows

→ Decisions feel simpler

→ Your work rediscovers its pulse

“The thing I’ve loved most is the fluidity and light-heartedness of our time together”

— BONNIE TAI, PHARMACIST TURNED HEALTH COACH AND DISABILITY ADVOCATE

“Instead of having a set agenda and list of outcomes, we let our body, energy and intuition to guide the journey and the work.

“We can still have fun and a good laugh while doing some deep work!

“This was life-changing for me because I was so used to preparing, planning and controlling everything I did meticulously.

“Finally I learned to allow myself to chill and relax and let my own wisdom come to me. Often I found myself in awe of how quickly my energy and mindset could shift from stagnation to flow in our sessions.”

We partner together for at least three months because meaningful integration takes repetition, embodied practice, and trust

When we first start, we’re not just addressing what brought you here.

You’ll be establishing a new way of relating to the different parts of yourself, including the protective systems, the exiled feelings, and the patterns that have been running beneath the surface.

Our almost-weekly sessions give us the consistency to normalise this work in your cells.

One session might give you an insight, but three months or more of regular coaching reweaves how you actually move through the world. This ends up being the difference between understanding something intellectually and living it in your body.

Towards the end of six months, we’ll talk about what’s next.

You can decide whether you want to keep going and what that might look like. Some clients continue with weekly sessions because that feels most supportive. Others shift to fortnightly or monthly sessions. Some feel ready to continue on their own. We’ll figure out what serves you best when we get there.

“The gift of being seen, and seeing myself more fully”

— JOSHUA LAM, WRITER & SCHOLAR

“I started working with Lara because I felt that I could use additional emotional support handling anxiety about writing and deadlines. Though I had already worked through and solved some practical problems — efficiency, productivity, time management, etc. — which helped reduce some of that anxiety, I felt there was further emotional work to do. And boy was I right!

“I feel so SEEN by Lara. Her pleasure in seeing my growth and success is palpable. My favourite part must be the self-discovery that has been unlocked — as deep as any work I've done with a therapist (over many years!).

“I have learned so much about myself. I feel better about myself — have better self esteem, more empathy for myself. I have less anxiety, more confidence. I have more tools for dealing with negative feelings and worries.

“I have found this to be a profoundly transformative, positive experience.

“I enjoyed our coaching sessions thoroughly, I benefitted from them immensely, and I am so incredibly grateful for the gifts I’ve received: the gift of Lara’s perspicacious attention, her wisdom, her empathy.

“The gift of being seen, and seeing myself more fully — the gift of permission to be proud of myself, to celebrate. THANK YOU. <3

“If you’re thinking about working with Lara: Do it! It will be life-changing. Literally.”

Let me share something important about how I work, because it shapes everything we do together

My practice is shaped by values I absorbed during my childhood in Asia: community, relational care, interconnectedness, and interdependence (not codependency, a colonial distortion of interdependence).

These aren’t accessories to the support I offer. They’re the ground from which it grows.

In Western personal development spaces, you’re often told to “do it yourself” — to fix, optimise, and transform through individual willpower alone.

But in the cultures I come from, transformation happens in relationship — through presence, witnessing, tenderness, and shared humanity.

This is why my work feels different.

It’s not hierarchical — I sit with you, not above you.

I don’t sit above you on a pedestal. I walk alongside you, as a sister and ally.

It’s not extractive. We move at the pace of your nervous system, listening for what wants to unfold.

It’s not purely cognitive. There’s something undeniably energetic, intuitive, and ancestral that moves through this work: a way of listening and attuning that wasn’t taught to me by certifications.

Clients often say they feel it immediately: the spaciousness, the warmth, the relational field we’re creating together. Many tell me it reminds them of something familiar — something they didn’t realise they were missing.

This is spirituality as relationship — with your body, your inner world, your wider communities, your personal and ancestral histories, all the parts of yourself you learned to neglect.

If you’re longing for support that honours your wholeness, your specificity, your intuition, and your humanity…

While also celebrating your intellect, your rigour, your brilliance…

You’ll feel at home here.

“We are sisters and allies. You’re doing good work! Artists need you”

— WAWI NAVAROZZA, VISUAL ARTIST

“After coaching with Lara, I’m now more empowered in asserting my agency as an artist. I feel centered and grounded going into big meetings. I can advocate for myself and my career – I can’t even believe the words coming out of my mouth! – all with a big smile.

I decide; the galleries follow.

“Thank you for BEING with me in this milestone. You’ve been instrumental to my growth and I will never forget your support. You helped me come back to my power as an artist. This phrase echoes in my head: “Seek to understand…” All will be well.

“We are sisters and allies. You’re doing good work! Artists need you.”

“For the first time ever, I feel a sense of freedom and lightness within.”

— BONNIE TAI, PHARMACIST TURNED HEALTH COACH

“When I decided to take a second sabbatical this year, I wanted to use this time to realise a creative dream I had had since childhood but did not know how and where to start. When I stumbled across Lara’s IG account, I was drawn to her energy — so calm, gentle, warm, and also playful.

“Before coaching with Lara, I was feeling burned out, unsure about my dreams and desires, and doubtful about my ability to create a life that would feel true and authentic to me.

“My self-worth was so tied up with my professional identity and paid employment.

“Fast forward six months later, I am now feeling so much more relaxed about showing up as I am and trusting my ability and wisdom to live a meaningful life.

“Now I feel like I can do anything I want freely in a way that is true to my values, that honours the needs of my body, mind, and soul, and that energises me and makes me go WOW.

“Long gone are the days when I neglected myself, prioritised the needs of other people, and chased external approval.

“For the first time ever, I feel a sense of freedom and lightness within. Everything seems to flow with ease and good things and people show up in my life to support my journey in the right place at the right moment.

“I also admire Lara for the breadth, depth and authenticity of her practice. Her deep and reflective listening skills; her playful, imaginative approach to change work; her courage to be vulnerable in front of her clients. Last but not least, my all-time favourite: Lara's collection of cute jumpers!”

When you liberate yourself internally, your outer world shifts

Here are some of the very real, very human changes my clients have experienced:

  • Sleeping through the night for the first time in years — without changing a single thing about their bedtime routine — because their nervous system finally feels safe enough to rest.

  • Negotiating a US$20k salary increase, then receiving an aligned job offer at double that new salary.

  • Securing a literary agent, a book deal with a dream publisher, and an extension on an editorial deadline that felt like a blessing, not a setback.

  • Raising their rates without apology to clients who can pay — so they can offer pro bono work to those who can’t, without draining themselves.

  • Showing up joyfully online to market their work because they’ve expanded their capacity to be seen without bracing.

  • Lifting the fog of long COVID, feeling their energy return, and running again — not to perform, but for the sheer pleasure of moving their body.

  • Healing cross-generational patterns, feeling peace as a parent, and empowerment as an adult child.

  • Completing ambitious creative work on a tight deadline while staying connected to their body, their people, and their own definition of success.

None of these shifts required force. They emerged when my clients stopped overriding their inner world and started listening to it.

This is what becomes possible when you come home to yourself — and it’s exactly what we’ll create together inside Big, Beautiful Work.

“Thank you for the immeasurable gift of seeing what can be when I cannot”

— PRIVATE CLIENT

“You’ve been with this/me from the very earliest paragraphs, and have stayed the course through the imagining of the book, the proposal and pitch, the contract, the grant applications, and now the award.

“I am so, so very grateful for the wise, patient and abiding company you have kept with my psyche and mind through this effort. And my heart, from where this book really emerges, ultimately.

“Thank you for the immeasurable gift of seeing what can be when I cannot."
